About Me
Welcome to my corner of the web! I'm Jim Ross, an IT technician based in Bridgwater, England, currently working within a Multi-Academy Trust. My role involves providing crucial technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems across several educational institutions.
My Journey into IT
My journey into the IT sector has been an exciting and somewhat unexpected one, shaping my career in ways I hadn't initially planned. I originally trained in a different field, earning a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. This qualification led me to work for two years as a light vehicle technician at Bridgwater and Taunton College. While I gained valuable hands-on experience during that time, I gradually realised that my long-term professional satisfaction lay beyond the motor industry.
It was while exploring new career avenues that I came across an opening for an IT Technician at the Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust. I decided to take a chance and apply, and successfully securing the position marked a significant turning point for me. Since stepping into the world of IT, I've never looked back. My initial curiosity about technology has grown exponentially into a genuine passion. This newfound drive to learn and develop within the field has recently led me to begin a Degree Apprenticeship in Digital and Technology Solutions, and I'm truly enthusiastic about the skills I'm acquiring and the path ahead.
